Epsilor and Astute Electronics to Showcase Highest Energy 6T NATO Battery at International Armoured Vehicles Conference in London
The two companies will display superior performance 6T lithium batteries and a 12-volt battery for drop-in replacement of traditional lead acid batteries.
London, UK, January, 12, 2018 – Epsilor, a world-recognised developer and manufacturer of mobile energy products for defence and aerospace applications, together with franchised global distributor Astute Electronics, will present its Lithium-Ion 6T NATO Standard battery product line at the International Armoured Vehicles Conference, which will take place in London January 22–25, 2018.
Epsilor 6T type batteries, which offer the highest energy density in the market, will be presented at Booth A5. The company will also showcase other solutions for armoured vehicles, including its 12V/110Ah (1.45kWh) LiFePO4 battery.
During the event, Ori Kost, Epsilor’s Large Format Battery Program manager, will participate in a special In-Service Support Panel, which will take place on Monday, January 22. His presentation is entitled “A Roadmap for On-board Energy: From 6T to High Voltage Batteries.”
Epsilor’s Lithium Ion and Lithium Iron Phosphate vehicular battery family of products is the optimal replacement for traditional lead-acid batteries. Offering three times the energy and approximately half the weight of lead-acid batteries of similar size, our advanced batteries serve a wide range of applications in the automotive, military and marine environments – wherever the conditions are tough and saving weight and volume are of the essence.
The new 6T battery has a state-of-charge indicator and a smart CANBus communication capability so that it can be monitored and controlled by the vehicle operator on the move.
Another great advantage of these batteries is their extremely long operational and cycle life which leads to significantly lower environmental and logistic footprints.
Developed in partnership with a strategic military customer, the new 6T batteries are optimised for the next generation of armoured vehicles (MBT, tracked and wheeled IFV) and are also suitable as drop-in replacements for traditional lead-acid batteries in legacy vehicle fleets.
With 165Ah capacity (4,150Wh energy), and at a weight of only 26Kg, Epsilor’s new 6T offers the highest energy density in the market. Another unique feature is a “charging current control” which enables the battery to stay connected and charging even during high current bursts from the alternator or between batteries with different states of charge. This feature enables the battery band to continue its smooth operation without disconnection of batteries during charge.
“The International Armoured Vehicles Trade Show and Conference provides us with an excellent opportunity to showcase our new 6T product family which enables extended silent watch and more efficient fuel consumption,” said Epsilor president Ronen Badichi. “These smart drop-in replacements for traditional batteries are a perfect solution for modern vehicles as well as for retrofit and modernisation programs of existing armoured fleets in NATO and in other advanced land forces.”
Richard Ford, Power Products divisional manager for Astute, says, “We’re excited by the prospect of discovering new design projects for Epsilor’s ground-breaking 6T battery range, as well as their customised solutions. With Epsilor’s innovative approach to design, we can offer our military customers flexible power solutions that are designed to their specifications.”
